Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, at $ Ap Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour were named co -presidents of the event.

The theme of the Met gala is inspired by the Annual Spring Exhibition, which is based on the book by Monica L. Miller “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the styling of Black Diasporic Identity”.

The exhibition itself, “Superfine: Sastring Black Style”, is based on other sources beyond the book. It is organized in a dozen sections, symbolizing a characteristic of the Dandy style as defined by Zora Neale Hurston in its 1934 essay, “characteristics of black expression”.
