The former player and coach of Los Angeles Lakers, Byron Scott, is being sued by a woman who alleges her sexually assaulting her in 1987, when she was 26 years old and she was 15 years old.

The woman states that the assault occurred in a team event at her Campbell Hall High School in Los Angeles. The demand was originally filed in December 2022, but was modified on May 1 to accuse Scott of sexual aggression and false imprisonment.

The amendment names Scott on the complaint for the first time after he fought previously to be identified as “John Doe” so that his name is eliminated from judicial documents.

The lawsuit declared that the victim was in summer classes at Campbell Hall High School when “Byron Scott sexually assaulted her in a closed concierge closet in the high school gymnasium,” according to Associated Press.

The Lakers were at high school in 1987 to film an instructional basketball video while they met with students, parents and members of the Faculty.

Scott denied the accusations through his lawyer, Linda Bauermeister, saying that it was believed that the woman was of legal age.

“Our client is devastated by this complaint,” Bauermeister said in a statement on Wednesday. “Our client believed that the plaintiff was over 18 years old and had no idea that he would claim otherwise until 35 years later. He respects girls and women, and the statements have registered him already his family.”

Scott was married to his first wife at the time of accusations. It divorced in 2014.

The lawsuit also accused the negligence officials of Campbell Hall high school for not protecting the plaintiff. The lawsuit requested a jury trial, as well as $ 25,000 in damages, including the loss of profits and lawyer fees that Scott and the High School will pay.

Scott was part of three Lakers championships as a player. He spent 11 of his 14 NBA seasons with the historical organization, with an average of 15.1 points, 3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Scott also played for the Indiana Pacers and then Vancouver Grizzlies.

Scott continues to train, leading a team in the Philippines.
