- Openai’s Windsurf movement presses its rivals
- OpenAi Objectives Automating programming beyond the level of Junior developer
- Developers can soon choose the IDES if Windsurf integration reaches at full speed
Openai is ready to acquire Windsurf, an upper artificial intelligence coding assistant, in an agreement, according to reports, for a value of $ 3 billion.
At the time of writing this article, the agreement has not yet been ended, however, if it passes, it would mark the greatest acquisition of OpenSe to date and indicate an aggressive impulse to master the field in rapid evolution of the development of software assisted by AI-AI.
Windsurf, previously known as Codeium, is a product of ExaFunction Inc., a startup that has attracted significant investor attention during the past year, since one of several emerging tools that translates the simple language into a workplace, reducing the need for manual development and, in some cases, automating tasks typically managed by Junior engineers.
This acquisition would put Openai in a more direct competition with Microsoft Copilot Github and the IA de Anthrope developer tools, two of the best coding platforms in this space.
Windsurf was recently valued at $ 1.25 billion and had been in conversations with investors to raise new funds at an assessment of $ 3 billion before Openai intervened with an acquisition offer.
The agreement follows the recent investment round of $ 40 billion Openai directed by SoftBank, which brought the company’s valuation to $ 300 billion.
With such financial support, Openai has the resources to expand its coding solutions and integrate Windsurf capabilities into its broader ecosystem.
There have been no official public comments of OpenAi or Windsurf, but the sources suggest that the acquisition could give OpenNAi an advantage in the construction of AI attendees that understand and execute better complex programming tasks.
It is likely that the company points to a unified platform that not only generates functional code, but also adapts to the habits and needs of the individual developer project.
