A public school district is in the process of transferring the sports conference of the Nevada High School to California, so it can avoid the new Nevada policy that keeps biological men outside the competitions of girls and the costumes of the girls of the high school.

The Unified School District of Tahoe Truckee (Ttusd) in Truckee, California, is leaving the Association of Interscholastic Activities of Nevada (NIAA) to join the Interscholastic Federation of California (CIF).

The change will enter into force in the autumn of 2025 and comes after the NIAA voted to prohibit Trans athletes from the girls category during their meeting of the Control Board on April 2. It was made to comply with the executive order to “keep men out of women’s sports” by President Donald Trump. However, California has continued to challenge order and enables trans inclusion in girls’ sports.

Multiple parents and athletes of Girls Ttusd begged school officials not to make the change to the California Federation at the meeting of the Unified School Board of Truckee on Wednesday night.

Not only did they speak the notion of letting trans athletes in girls’ sports, but many speakers also pointed out that other details of the change would affect the ability of the district’s sports teams to carry out their seasons, including travel and programming changes that would cause possible meteorological complications for outdoor events.

The current configuration with Truckee competing in the NIAA allows its teams to travel to East to Nevada during most of its competition outside its home, since the city is near the border of northern California-Nevada. But with the next change, athletes could soon have to travel west during most of their competition outside.

This means that students will often have to travel through the Donner pass in California, a 7,056 feet high mountain pass. During the winter, the pass is known to be dangerous due to extreme climatic conditions such as strong snowfall, strong winds and frost roads. High elevation and frequent storms contribute to treacherous travel conditions, including avalanche potential.

The athletic athlete of the girls of the high school of Truckee, Ava Cochram, expressed her fears of playing against trans athletes.

“Men generally have more muscle mass, greater lung capacity and greater bone density that gives them greater advantages, physically, in sports, and I think it is very unfair to see all our hard work as women to go for the drain,” said Cochram. “I have nothing against trans people, but I think this is a violation of our privacy.”

The football, athletics and basketball athlete of the Truckee high school, Kenzie Zilstorf, lamented the idea of changing with trans athletes in the same costumes and having to increase the risk of traveling with change.

“It’s even more bad if a woman has to go to the costumes with a man and change with them. There are two genres, a man and a woman,” said Zilstorf. “And I think it is unfair that we have to take a dangerous impulse to risk our lives by the summit when there is snow, all due to a privacy rule. This is wrong.”

North Tahoe High School’s women’s football player, Anna Holly, said she is not even going to play women’s football due to change.

“It’s sad for me, because this is the only time I can play football in my life, and I really enjoy it, but I am choosing basketball for that,” Holly said. “And biologically, boys are born with greater speed and strength than girls, and having to play against them, have an unfair advantage, and I would not feel safe with them. There are also security concerns about how much stronger they are than us.”

Ttusd still defended his decision to change CIF in a statement proportionate to Pak Gazette Digital.

“A recent change in the Association of Interscholastic Activities of Nevada (NIAA) held on April 2, 2025, directly enters into conflict with the State Law of California, specifically the mandate of the California Education Code against discrimination and protection of students’ privacy. Give He joined an association of California athletes as a direct action to guarantee legal compliance, “, the mandates of the TTUSD statement, which I read. Digital.

Ttusd also said he anticipates that the new arrangements will lead to shorter travel times for their student athletes for competitions, despite the concerns about Donner’s pass.

“Ttusd is working with CIF in details related to the allocation of the league, schedules and travel distances. We anticipate that students of general mileage athletes within the CIF will be lower than our current travel schedules,” said the district statement.

CIF is one of the many high school sports conferences located in blue states to challenge Trump’s executive order, since it was signed on February 5.

He is currently under investigation by the United States Department of Education for his challenge to the Order, and the Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, warned Governor Gavin Newsom that his condition could be subject to federal freezing of funds if he continues to challenge.
