Islamabad:
Pakistan received comments from the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, with respect to the recent agreement of Alto El Fuego between Pakistan and India, qualifying it as a significant step towards lasting peace in southern Asia.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Islamabad expressed its gratitude for the comments of the Secretary General, echoing its opinion that the high fire contributes positively to promoting a stable and peaceful regional environment.
When reaffirming its long -standing position, Pakistan emphasized that a fair and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is still essential to achieve lasting peace in the region.
The statement reiterated the call of Pakistan for a resolution in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the aspirations of the People of Cashmiro.
“Pakistan gives great importance to the role of the United Nations in the promotion of regional peace and stability,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underlining the country’s commitment to the “constructive dialogue and oriented to the results” based on the principles of the UN Charter and International Law.
