- Rumor Story affirms the announcement of May 28 ‘confirmed’
- The new launch will be an electronic mountain camera, possibly with inclined Evf
- Two camera models recently registered by Sony in China
Is Sony about to announce a new camera? Or maybe even two? The evidence points that way, even if the details are extremely thin on the ground.
Sony Alpha Rumors has updated brief news today, adding ‘confirmation’ that the company will present a new camera and electronic mountain without mirror on May 28, 2025. As for what this camera could be, the story barely speculates, although it does say that it will not be a successor for the Sony A7 IV.
However, we have suspected that a new Sony A7 model is on its way, and the fact that the price of the current Sony A7 IV, published in 2021, has recently fallen to register minimums strongly suggests that something is at the exit. Therefore, we still hope that a new Sony full frame model is announced this year, just perhaps as soon as May 28.
A view to an inclination
While the piece is light with details, the story of Sony Alpha Rumors mentions that the new camera can present an “inclined EVF design”. The inclined viewers are a rarity in the mirror without cameras, but we have seen them before, perhaps more markedly in the Panasonic Lumix GX9 released from 2018.
The GX9 has a compact television style design, where allowing the viewer to lean makes the most comfortable use, so perhaps the rumored Sony camera will have an equally compact body. Sony has launched many APS-C e-Mount cameras with this type of design over the years, such as the A6500 and A6100. Could the model supposedly announced on May 28 be something new in that line?

But Sony’s news does not stop there. A second story about Sony Alpha’s rumors apparently reveals that Sony has recently registered two new cameras in China: one on April 21 and another on May 9. Both models will have double-band Wi-Fi, but the first will be manufactured in China, while the second will be manufactured in Japan.
If the launch claims of May 28 are true, one of these cameras will probably be announced that day. Could the other also reveal himself at the same time, or will he be delayed until autumn, another popular era of the year for the release of new cameras?
We will be waiting to inform about any concrete news or additional rumors, but in the meantime let us know what you would like to see from Sony’s revelations in the comments below.
