Islamabad:
The Supreme Court has observed that the Prosecutor’s Office has not yet corroborated the accusations of criminal conspiracy against PTI MPA Hafiz Farhat Abbas, noting that the case is within the scope of additional investigation.
In an order of four pages written by Judge Naeem Akhtar Afghan when they hear the declaration of bail prior to the PTI MPA involved in the case of May 9, the Superior Court commented that the petitioner had not recovered and that the record of the case reflected its cooperation during the investigation.
“The Prosecutor’s Office has not yet demonstrated the accusation of the criminal conspiracy of hatching by the petitioner in the trial. The apprehension of the petitioner about his arrest by the police to create humiliation and harassment despite cooperating with the investigation of the case cannot remain so vague or without foundation.”
The order indicated that, on the basis of an attempt evaluation of the material so far available in the registry, the case against the petitioner also fell within the scope of additional investigation.
Interestingly, the same bank had previously approved similar observations in an order that grants bond after arrest to Senator PTI ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry.
A bank of three judges of the Apex Court, led by the Afghan judge, heard the matter. The Superior Court of Lahore had previously rejected the request for bail prior to the arrest of Hafiz Ferhat Abbas.
The Order declared that the petitioner had not been appointed in a signed registered at the Sarwar Road Police station, Lahore, on May 12, 2023, with respect to the events of May 9.
“The petitioner has been involved in the plaintiff’s complementary statement dated June 10, 2023 based on tweets/audio/video clips on social networks; the probative value, as well as the admissibility of the delay of the supplementary demand of the plaintiff’s statement, as well as tweets/audio/video clips on social networks will be determined Recording, “the order added.
The court also pointed out that the Coacusado Imtiaz Mehmood had already received a bond prior to the arrest in the SIF itself by the Supreme Court on April 17, 2025, in a criminal request.
The Bank observed that, based on the consistency rule, Hafiz Ferhat Abbas also had the right to confirm its bail prior to the ad-inteal arrest.
The Court confirmed the bail prior to the arrest granted to the petitioner through its previous order of April 15, 2025.
The petitioner has been aimed at continuing to cooperate with any additional investigation, if necessary.
