The Junior Arch Manning season in Texas will be under a strong center of attention in this next university football season, and many believe it is the favorite to win the Heisman trophy and become the number 1 team in the NFL 2026 draft.
It is not a certainty that Manning will decide to be professional next year, but he has the option to do so to be three years retired from high school.
If he does, the NFL informant of ESPN, Adam Schefter, says that the League should borrow from the NBA and organize a draft lottery.

The NBA draft lottery is designed so that the teams cannot capture a season for the first general selection in the Draft of the following year. Although there was a debate on Monday about the Dallas Mavericks that were granted the first selection in the NBA Draft of 2025, they only had a 1.8% chance of obtaining the selection.
Okay, NBA teams still try to lose to increase their percentage of winning the first selection in the lottery. But the process still works, and Schefter agrees with the NBA decision not to incentivize loss completely.

Milton directed the Patriots for the Bills on week 18, 23-16, but Buffalo sat most of his headlines for the playoffs.
Even so, Schefter’s idea is one that could realize.
“If nothing else, if the NFL could implement a lottery system, they would have one more grades,” Schefter said. “They are doing shows for everything else. Why would there be a draft lottery show? That would qualify greatly. Can you imagine a year in which there is a prospect of superior field marshal or the year of Arch Manning?

With Quinn Eweers recruited by the Miami Dolphins, Manning is the alleged head of the Longhorns for the university season 2025-26. He has shown his talent in the games that Eweers was injured or Texas was great, but he never had to lead the team for a full season.
Manning has not hinted at one way or another with respect to his draft state by 2026.
