IHC Reservations verdict of probation for Imran

Islamabad/ Rawalpindi:

On Wednesday, the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) reserved its verdict on the objections raised by the Office of the Registrar to a petition that seeks the release of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on probation in the reference of £ 190 million.

The case was heard by the President of the Interim Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar, who commented that the Court would approve an appropriate order on the objections of the registrar.

At the beginning of the hearing, Judge Dogar asked the petitioner’s lawyer, the senior lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa, if he wanted to refer the matter to a division bank.

Khosa replied that the assistant registrar had raised an objection, qualifying the guilt not maintainable. “It is up to this honorable court to decide whether the petition is admissible,” he argued.

“There is the perception that justice is being denied to a particular individual. That impression should end. Everyone deserves respect for this court,” Khosa said.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s prime minister Ali Amin Gandapur also appeared before the court together with Khosa to support the petition.

The court, however, observed that probation is an executive issue. “This is the government’s work. Why have you brought it here?” The judge asked.

Khosa clarified that probation and probation were different legal issues. “We have already submitted a request for probation before the provincial government, but it is still pending. The appeal against the conviction is before its court. If the government does not entertain our application, we will return here,” he said.
