$ 500 million lost in irregularities of the Dasu project

Islamabad:

The Senate Economic Affairs Committee was reported on Wednesday that the National Treasury has suffered a loss of $ 500 million due to large -scale irregularities in the DASU Transmission Line project.

The panel raised questions about non -transparent bidding practices and the awarding of the contract to an inexperienced company for the plan.

The committee meeting was chaired by Senator Saifullah Abro.

The body expressed serious concerns about the lower bidder’s margin without substantial justification, and giving the contract to a company that, according to reports, lacked the necessary experience in the manufacture of group drivers.

Senator Abro said that favoritism towards an inexperienced company led to massive financial loss, and strongly criticized the relevant authorities for not defending transparency in the acquisition process.

Nespak and National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) officials could not provide satisfactory answers, which caused strong criticisms of the committee members. The president ordered that a complete investigation into the matter begin and requested action against those responsible. The president of the committee ordered that an exhaustive investigation be carried out and measures against those responsible are taken.

The Committee decided to send the matter to the Public Accounts Committee for its greatest scrutiny.

The DASU transmission line project aims to transmit electricity from the DASU hydroelectric plant to Islamabad. It implies a double circuit transmission of 765 kV, which covers approximately 250 kilometers, with grid stations from Mansehra and Islamabad West along the route.
