Microsoft failed an important antipolio milestone cispe
Cispe complained that it was more expensive to execute the Microsoft software on rival cloud platforms than in Azure, so the company promised to adjust some of its license terms to open the competition.
The European Cloud Competition Observator (ECCO) published its second report on Microsoft, maintaining its Amber rating, it is not a good look for a company that has been the subject of antitrust research on a global scale. “There are some concerns, but corrective actions have been proposed,” explains Ecco.
“Although there have been setbacks, specifically in the delivery of a product -based resolution, both parties continue to participate in positive discussions,” Cispe wrote.
The Secretary General of Cispe, Francisco Mignorance, commented: “It is disappointing that the proposed product did not deliver, but this is not at the end of the agreement. Phase 2 opens the door to discuss alternative and commercially equivalent solutions that allow CISPE members and the cloud infrastructure suppliers of Europe to compile Microsoft productivity tools to their customers.”
Microsoft must now propose alternatives, a plan B, before July 10, 2025, or face possible new legal actions. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom CMA continues to review the company’s license tactics.
