Sialkot:
Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif declared on Saturday that the recent military operation along the eastern border of Pakistan represents a historical, unmatched milestone in the 78 years of history of the country and attributed it to restore national unity and trust.
He was going to a group of students and teachers, who had come to congratulate him in his residence for the success of Operation Bunyan-Un-Marshus, a coordinated response of Pakistan’s military forces to hostilities for India.
“Our eternal and perpetual enemy is sitting just kilometers away through the eastern border, licking their wounds,” he said. “God wishes, our enemies on the western front will soon suffer the same destiny.”
Khawaja Asif said there was no need to respond to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “What is said about him throughout India today, we could not have said better,” he added, referring to the growing internal discontent within India.
He accredited the operation of joining the country at a time when visible fissures had appeared on the national fabric. “Fifteen or twenty days ago, we saw cracks in our national unity. Today, by the grace of God, the nation is united, and that unity now carries the mark of the courage of our armed forces. I greet you,” he said.
The minister extended his congratulations to the main military leadership, including the head of the Army staff, the general also Munir, the head of the Mariscal Air Zaheer Ahmad Babar, the Naval Chief of Ashraf and the president of the Chief of Chief of Personnel of Personnel, Sahir Shamshad, for his valley and religious leadership during the operation.
“I have witnessed conflicts from very close rooms, from the war of 1965 to today, but I have never seen a leadership so emotionally charged and spiritual,” he said. “It was his leadership who instilled force in our soldiers. I am a direct witness of its resolution and courage.”
Asif also praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for standing with shoulder with the armed forces at every moment of the crisis.
“He led the Nation, transmitted to the Army that the civil government fully supports them and assured them that he is next to him with the force of 250 million people,” said the minister.
“It doesn’t matter how far we have to go to defend the homeland, we are united under a flag.”
He warned that the nations that forget their history are forgotten by history.
