Karachi:
The Government has assured the IMF of radical economic reforms before federal budget 2025-26, including increases in fuel, electricity and gas prices, authorities said, a measure that is expected to exert additional financial pressure on the public.
As of July 1, the Government plans to implement a series of fiscal measures aimed at reducing the budget deficit and addressing the growing debt of the country’s energy sector.
These measures include additional levies on oil derived products, a new surcharge of debt service on electricity invoices and settings to gas rates. Electricity prices will be recovered annually, while gas prices are expected to be adjusted twice.
