At least four people were martyred and more than 20 wounds in a powerful explosion that shook Gulistan’s bazaar in the Baluchistan district of Killa Abdullah on Sunday, according to officials of the district administration.

The explosion occurred near the Jabbar market, causing damage extensive to the building and causing generalized panic. Several stores collapsed and exploded fires in multiple establishments after the explosion.

The injured were initially taken to nearby health centers, while critical injured were transferred to Quetta for additional treatment. Killa Abdullah’s deputy commissioner Riaz Khan confirmed the victims, stating that the market was located adjacent to the rear wall of the Fort of the Border Corps (FC). After the explosion, there was a brief exchange of shots between unidentified assailants and FC staff.

The injured included a security guard of the old tribal Haji Faizullah Khan Ghabizai and several spectators. At the time of the explosion, Haji Faizullah Khan was present in his office located within the market, but remained unharmed.

In response to the incident, the application of the law sealed the area and launched a comprehensive search and authorization operation. Local administration and security personnel continue to evaluate the damage while guaranteeing that the injured receive timely medical attention.

The explosion occurred days after four personnel members lost their lives in an attack of mortal weapons of armed men not identified in a checkpoint in the Nal area of ​​the Khuzdar district. Friday’s attack took place at the Samand Levies Check Post.

The assailants opened indiscriminate fire in the check post before fleeing from the scene. The officials condemned the martyrdom of the Levies staff. They reiterated their resolution to take those behind the attack on justice and maintain security in the province.
