Bilawal and Mengal agree on joint budget strategy

ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Saturday called on Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) chief Akhtar Mengal and discussed the current political situation in the country.

As detailed, both leaders agreed on a joint strategy for next year’s fiscal budget.

They also exchanged views on the 18th Constitutional Amendment and the government’s action on the National Finance Commission (NFC) award.

“By criticizing the 18th Constitutional Amendment, Imran Khan is attacking the Constitution,” Bilawal said.

They expressed concern over the rising number of Covid-19 patients in the country and deliberated on holding an all-party conference next week.

Bilawal and Shehbaz reject federal budget

“The PTI and IMF budget is anti-people. We cannot accept it,” said the PPP president.

“Due to the government’s incompetence, the coronavirus has spread everywhere,” he added.

Both leaders also rejected the increase in oil prices and said this was the time to provide maximum relief to the people.

A few days ago, Mengal announced his party’s withdrawal from its alliance with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government for failing to implement agreements with the party.

Speaking during a session of the National Assembly, he said: “I officially announce that our party is ending its alliance with the PTI. We will stay in Parliament and continue talking about the issues.”

Mengal added that the PTI had signed two agreements with the party at the time of formation of the government after the 2018 elections and later during the presidential elections, but not a single point of the agreement was implemented.
