Before Eidul Azha, the prices of perishable products continued to increase for the second consecutive week in Lahore, accompanied by generalized overload.
Most of the vegetables, fruits and seasonal poultry items registered meanings of price increases compared to the previous week.
In spite of the official tariff lists issued by the district administration, the suppliers of the entire city sold articles at arbitrary prices, largely without control.
The lack of a operation control mechanism in operation, together with little interest of the elected representatives, has led to a growing public frustration.
The price of the living chicken increased by RS18 per kilogram this week, officially set between RS397 and RS411.
However, merchants avoided selling birds from Corral Vivas, instead, offering chicken meat to RS580 to RS760 per kg, and boneless meat at RS900 to RS1,050 well above the prescribed government tariffs.
The official price of soft -skin grade potatoes increased by RS5 per kg, established in RS45 to RS50, but were sold in the markets per RS80 to RS100. Grade B potatoes were listed in RS37 to RS40 and C of CS32 grade to RS35, but mixed varieties were sold per RS50 to RS70 per kg.
Degree onions fell in RS5, with an official price from RS30 to RS35 per kg, but were sold at RS80. Grade B and C onions, with a price of RS27 to RS30 and RS22 to RS25, respectively, mixed and sold at RS50 to RS60.
The tomatoes followed a similar trend, with a decrease in degree A in RS5 to RS30 to RS35 per kg, but sold at RS80 to RS100. Grade B tomatoes were set at RS27 to RS30, and c-cinte to RS22 to RS25, while the mixed varieties were for RS50 to RS60.
Among the fruits, different varieties of apples won RS10, set in RS220 to RS365, but were sold for RS250 to RS800 per kg. Melon’s official price remained at RS55 to RS95, but was sold at RS130 to RS150.
The watermelon increased in RS5 to RS38 to RS40, but sold to RS50 to RS80. Lokat won RS15 to RS138 to RS145 and sold at RS180 to RS250.
