- The Nintendo Switch 2 will offer text and voice text to text in GameChat
- The text to the voice allows players to write with the keyboard on screen, and the system will read messages aloud
- The voice of voice to text will show live subtitles of the party members while playing
Nintendo has confirmed that Switch 2’s Gamechat function will admit text and live text subtitles.
In case you have lost it, Gamechat was revealed together with Switch 2 and is essentially a video exchange function similar to discord to which it can be accessed by pressing the ‘C’ button of the console.
It is a great feature that was not available on the original switch, and now Nintendo has revealed new accessibility options made specifically for Gamechat.
As seen by Oatmeavlome (through VGC), the feature will admit text to voice while playing them, allowing players to write messages with the on -screen keyboard, which the system will read aloud.

GameChat admits text to voice. If you are enabled, you can write a text and the system will read it for you. Although it is not explicitly confirmed, USB keyboards must also be admitted (the 1 already admits them for text entry).[image or embed]@Oatmealdome.bsky.social
In a separate publication, it was also confirmed that Gamechat will admit live subtitles. While playing a game at a party, the system will transcribe what players say in real time and will show the text in a “chat box” on the left side of the screen.
As shown in screen capture, the game will be minimized more next to the icon boxes of group members while the accessibility option is active.
Since then, Nintendo has updated its accessibility page on its website to now include “Gamechat Voice Speech-To-Text” and “Gamechat Text-to Speech Audio”, along with other features such as Mono Audio, Screen Zoom, Visualization Colors, Mopeo of buttons and more.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is launched worldwide on June 5, 2025, for $ 449.99 / £ 395.99. The early orders of the United Kingdom and the early orders of the United States are now live.
If the obtaining of an anticipated order was lost and is struggling to find stocks, Gamestop and Best Buy have announced that 2 units in the store and online during the launch of the console will be resumed.
