The generation of Google’s images has just level up, with a new image version 4 bringing with it a lot of large updates, including greater resolution and better text handling.
The update was announced today in Google I/O 2025, and should significantly improve the image capabilities of Gemini, which already rivaled those of Chatgpt.
Assuming the previous version 3, Image 4 has “remarkable clarity in fine details such as intricate fabrics, drops of water and animal skins, and stands out in photorealist and abstract styles,” according to Google. You can see the new level of detail in the images of previous view and below.
Image 4 is also the first version of the Google AI image generator that can increase up to 2K resolution, which means that you can make larger images for presentations and images that will be even better when they are printed.
A real challenge for Ia Image generators in the past (apart from creating realistic fingers) has represented the text in a way that makes sense and is readable.
While Image 3 made a significant incursion to present the typography in a better way, Image 4 promises to take the text to the next level.
Google states that image 4 will be “significantly better in spelling and typography, which facilitates the creation of your own congratulations, posters and even comics.”
Use limits
When it comes to the limits of image use 4, we do not expect the situation to be radically different from those of image 3, but we will update this publication if we listen to something different.
Currently, if you are using image 3 through the Chatbot Gemini, the daily limits vary depending on whether it is a free Gemini user or an advanced Gemini subscriber.
Free users can expect about 10-20 generations of images per day, depending on how strongly the service is used. GEMINI’s advanced subscribers can expect higher limits of up to 100-150 daily image generations.
As with Image 3, there are restrictions on image content 4, especially around the generation of images of real individuals. However, Image 4 has no problem generating images of generic people.
Available today in Google applications
Image 4 is not available only in Gemini; As of today, you can use it through whisk, VERTEX AI, SLIDES, VIDS, DOCS AND MORE IN THE WORK SPACE.
And there is more to come. Google says that “soon” will launch a super fast image variant 4 that is up to 10 times faster than image 3 in the generation of images.
