FIFA, the global football governing body, plans to use the Avalanche network to feed its own dedicated layer 1 block chain.
The FIFA Blockchain is an Avalanche L1, a customizable block chain that uses Avalanche technology (also previously known as Subnet). The news occurs when the Avalanche network recently went through its important Avalanche9000 update, aimed at attracting new developers and encouraging them to create personalized L1.
Thursday’s announcement is not the first fifa incursion into the world of Blockchain and Crypto. In 2022, the soccer body launched a non -fungible token collection (NFT) in the Algorand block chain before the Qatar World Cup. FIFA also mocked this change in April, noting that it would change its collection to a block chain compatible with EVM while continuing chasing web3 initiatives.
The madness of NFT, which saw large institutions and corporations jump to the trend, has now faded mostly after the brutal cryptographic winter that moistened the feeling of the industry for several painful years. However, a great entity such as the continuous approach of FIFA in Blockchain probably indicates that the case of use of technology has not calmed down, and large companies are still looking to venture into the industry.
“Avalanche is designed for companies and organizations that seek to build high -performance personalized block chain solutions,” said John Nahas, Ava Labs business director, in a press release shared with Coindesk. “The decision of the FIFA to launch its L1 in Avalanche is a testimony of the ability of our technology to support applications on a global scale with speed, flexibility and safety.”
While FIFA currently only has a World Cup NFT collection and a digital collectible market, it did not share what more is planning to launch in its new block chain.
