- Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 is now available
- This includes the Big Material 3 Expressive of Android Rediseño
- However, these changes will not be implemented with the first version of Android 16
Hot after the Android Google program, the company has now launched its new Android appearance beta.
If you have a compatible phone (that is, a pixel phone from Google Pixel 6 onwards), you can now download Android QPR1 (RELEASE 1 of quarterly platform 1) Beta 1, whose main feature is the new expressive redesign of material 3.
This gives Android a completely new appearance, with important visual changes on the lock screen, the pitcher, the fast configuration screen and the notifications. And these are not only static images, since expressive material also includes new movement effects.
More sizes, more mosaics and new effects
Beyond that, this beta version also presents several other changes, many of which have been excavated by 9to5google. These include things as new grid size options for the home screen, a reduction in the size of the Widget at A Glance, the option to add more quick configuration mosaics and the ability to add several effects, such as animated weather effects, to any wallpaper.
So there is a lot here, although the main thing that will probably notice is how different everything seems in Android 15.
If you have registered in the Beta Android 16 program and you have a 6 or newer pixel, then you must automatically get this beta version. If not, you can opt for the Android Beta page.
That said, this being a beta version that will not be as stable as a finished release, so unless it is desperate to try the new Android aspect, we would suggest waiting.
Android 16 is expected to unfold in the second quarter of the year, so by the end of June, but the expressive redesign of material 3 seen in this beta version will not land until the first update of QPR, which should land at the end of this year.
