Sony has announced that it is closing its PlayStation Stars loyalty program after three years.
In a new PlayStation blog post, the company confirmed that PlayStation Stars will close and will no longer accept new members as of today.
Those who choose to cancel their membership will not be able to meet and lose all the points won.
“From the launch of the program, we have learned a lot in evaluating the types of activities to which our players respond better and, as a company, we are always evolving with the tendencies of the players and the industry,” Sony said.
“Through this evaluation, we have decided to re -do our efforts and eliminate the current version of PlayStation Stars. We will continue to evaluate our key findings of this program and we are looking for ways to develop these learning.”
Although the rewards program is closing, members can still gain digital collectibles, points and level up until July 23, 2025 at 7:59 am PDT / 3:59 PM BST / 11:59 PM JST.
After this date, there will be no new PlayStation Stars campaigns, or additional rewards or state benefits to win.
Sony said that “this version” of PlayStation Stars will end completely on November 2, 2026, but it is not clear if the company plans to launch another version of the loyalty program.
He also said that current PlayStation Stars members can continue to redeem the points whenever their points do not expire before that date, and that members can still access their digital collectibles, even after these changes enter into force.
The program was made available to PS5 and PS4 in 2022 and reward players with serious loyalty points that can be exchanged for several digital treats after completing several challenges, such as unlocking a specific trophy or playing a game in their system.
