“The Double” has not been completed since 2001, despite several brave attempts since then, but Kyle Larson is looking to add his name in history books.
The Indy 500 will begin at 12:45 pm et in Indianapolis Motor Speedway, five hours and 15 minutes before the green flag comes out in Charlotte, North Carolina, for Coca-Cola 600.
The flight between the two tracks is about an hour and a half, but Larson wants to challenge him.

“The main reason why I love to compete. I like to challenge myself, you learn new cars and all that. And I like to compete in the world’s biggest races. So doing two of them on the same day, it’s quite good,” Larson said in a recent interview with Pak Gazette Digital.
“For me, I want to do it while I am at my best. I am only 32 years old, I feel that I am at the top of our sport, I felt that the moment is suitable for that. I do not know how long my career will last in the Nascar … I think it will be really fun to make a race in the course of the road, only to experience that type of cars that have a lot Men, and also men, and men.

How a link between father and son flourished a twice Indy 500 champion
Five pilots, including Larson, have tried the feat, and some have been able to run both races. However, Tony Stewart, who ended sixth in Indy and third in Coca -Cola 600 in 2001, remains the only driver to achieve 1,100 miles. The last person to run both races is Kurt Busch, who finished the Indy 500 in sixth in 2014, but the motor failure in Charlotte cost him the completion of that race.
Larson tried double last year, but Rain delayed Indy 500, and that same storm prevented him from competing in Charlotte later in the day, despite reaching the track.
“I had fun last year, it helped me prepare for this year. There is still much good that came from last year even though I couldn’t run both. I hope the weather remains well, as it seems that it should, we can have everything in time and do a good job in the races and run in front.”
For beginners, Larson has a main objective: “It ends all the laps.”
“But then, you look where the bar is,” he continued, mentioning Stewart’s achievement. “You are like ‘I want to beat that.’ If you can win one of the two, that would be great.

“Winning the Indy 500 would be more difficult, but it can definitely be done at the same time. The fastest car, the best driver, does not always win the race. If you only execute the details the best thing you can and do not make any mistake, you can have the opportunity to win at the end. If we can do a good job, the results can take care of it for themselves and we cannot have a great day.”
It would be almost impossible to win both, but Larson knows which one I would prefer to have.
“I won 600, I would take the Indy 500,” he said. “But I can win one of the two, it would be incredible.”
