The loss of hurricanes was its 14th consecutive in a final of the conference, which goes back to the sweeps in 2009, 2019 and the 2023 round with the Panthers.

“I think we are all a bit lost,” said Hurricanes striker Taylor Hall.

At one point, fans began to sing: “Shoot the album! Shoot the album!” The hurricanes achieved only 17 shots on the door in the defeat.

“This game is mental,” said Staal. “I mean, it is the brain and its approach and the thoughts that can intensify. It must be the thoughts that we have been thinking about the whole year, and that is to play our game and focus on our changes and our battles and do what we do.

“When you let those thoughts like this enter, you never look good. I think we have to believe in the group and what we have and what we have done all year and steal one in the game 3.”

The last final victory of the Carolina Conference was in game 7 in 2006 against Buffalo during the race for the title of the lonely Cup of the Franchise. The current chief coach Rod Id’amour was the captain of that team that scored the winner of the third period against the Buffalo Sabres.

Now Brind’amour will hope to lead a change in game 3, scheduled for 8 pm and Saturday.
