The new block awards on land deepen ties with Turkiye

Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik met with Irfan Neziroglu, Ambassador of Turkiye in Pakistan, on Friday to discuss the expansion of cooperation in the energy sector, including the exploration and collaboration of oil and gas in critical minerals. The meeting, held at the Petroleum Ministry, also mentioned the evolution geopolitical environment and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

According to an official statement, the oil minister transmitted the appreciation for the continuous diplomatic support of Türkiye to Pakistan, particularly during his recent tensions with India. He said that the link between the two countries had suffered over time, strengthened by shared history and strategic alignment. Malik transmitted the gratitude of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, stating that President Erdogan’s vocal support reflects the depth of the Pakistan-Türkiye relationship.

Neziroglu echoed these feelings, describing the relationship as a “proven brotherhood in time.” He praised the management of Pakistan of recent geopolitical challenges.

Discussions focused on energy cooperation, with emphasis on joint companies, technology transfer and resources development. Malik pointed out that the Turk Petrolleri Anonim Ortakligi (TPAO) from Türkiye state property had received two blocks on land in Pakistan in the last bidding round held on May 13, 2025. A block, Ziarat North in Balochistan, includes JV Partners Maryergies (33.16%, operator), Octl (24.87%). (24.87%), TPAO (10%) and GHPL (7.10%). The second, Sukhpur-II in Sindh, was granted to a JV that includes prime (25%, operator), OGDCL (30%), marienergies (30%) and TPAO (15%).

TPAO has also signed a joint bidding agreement with a consortium of Pakistani companies: Marienergies, OGDCL and PPL, to participate in the next offer on the high seas in the 2025 Round.
