“We will not have men in female sports, if it’s fine,” he said. “I mean, I wouldn’t like to have to address, as an example, (Field Marshal) Bryson (daily) as a man. But I don’t think many women want to address it. I don’t think so. How crazy is it? Men playing in women’s sports. How crazy is it? So ridiculous. So degrading. So of failures for women. And that ends. That ends.
Several states have challenged Trump’s order, resulting in federal investigations of Title IX. The Department of Agriculture also ended federal funds temporarily for the State of Maine, but the funds were restored by a federal judge.
The governor of Maine, Janet Mills and Trump, got into a very publicized dispute shortly after the order was signed.
Earlier this month, a school district in Washington, a blue state, voted to keep trans athletes out of girls’ sports. The ruling challenges a policy of the Association of Interscholastic Activities of Washington (WIAA), promulgated in 2007, which allows transgender students to participate based on their gender identity.
In May, an Athlete Trans competed in a female country cross championship in the state and won.
