
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a renewed management and training body for the next T20 international series against Bangladesh, particularly omitting the assistant coach Azhar Mahmood of the coaching staff.
According to the Cricket’s board, Mike Hesson in New Zealand will assume the responsibilities of the chief coach. Among the other key events, Australia Ashley Noffke has been named as bowling coach, while Hanif Malik will serve as a batting coach. While, Naveed Akram Chema has been appointed team manager.
The new support personnel also includes Mohammad Masroor as a field coach, Cliff Deacon such as Physiotherapist and Imranullah as the strength and conditioning coach. Team Management will also include a team analyst, a team doctor, security manager, masseuse and media manager.
This series marks the beginning of Hesson’s mandate as the chief coach of the White Ball of the Pakistan male cryket, after the PCB appointed him for that role on May 13, replacing Aqib Javed.
Mahmood, who previously occupied the role of bowling coach, had expressed interest in assuming the paper, stating that he would request the chief coach.
“I will definitely request the role of coach in Chief of the Pakistan team,” Mahmood said in an interview earlier this month. However, the Board did not consider it for the crucial role.
These changes occur when Pakistan prepares to face Bangladesh in the T20I series, indicating a significant review in the leadership of the background of the team.
The three T20IS are held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, as of May 28 and concluding on June 1.
The first T20I will be played on Wednesday, the second on Friday and the final on Sunday. All matches will begin at 8:00 pm local time.
Originally, Bangladesh was scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on May 21 in two groups, with a T20I series of five games planned to start May 25 in Faisalabad. However, logistics adjustments and security considerations led to a revised series of three games, all to be housed in Lahore, after the review of the schedule following a recent confrontation between Pakistan and India.
The first group of the Bangladesh Cricket team arrived at Lahore for the three -game T20 series against Pakistan.
The initial 10 members includes the players Hasan Mahmud, Mohammad Tanvir Islam and Parvez Hossain Emon. Tanzim Hasan Sakib and support staff are also part of the first lot to reach the city.
Bangladesh players will reach three groups for the next series. Both teams will train at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on May 26 and 27, before the opening match. The captains of both sides will also hold a press conference prior to the match on May 27.
The PCB announced a team of 16 members for the T20i series, with Salman Ali Agha called Captain and Shadab Khan as Vice-Capitán. The selection is based on performances in PSL X. in progress.
The team includes Hasan Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Faheem Ashraf, Hussain Talat, Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Wasim Junior and Naseem Shah. The notable exclusions are former Captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Abbas Afridi, Abdul Samad, Jahandad Khan, Mohammad Ali, Umair Bin Yousuf, Sufyan Muqeem and Usman Khan also stayed out.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh will be directed by Litton Das, who was appointed Captain of T20I earlier this year after Najmul Hossain Shanto resigned. Mahedi Hasan, outside the Spinner, is the vicecapitan of the Tours of the EAU and Pakistan.
