Islamabad:
Pakistan and Turkiye reiterated their resolution to “raise the bilateral strategic association to higher heights” during “a warm and more cordial meeting” between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul on Sunday.
Shehbaz, accompanied by the head of the field marshal of the Syed Army personnel also Munir and the ministers of the key cabinet, began his official two -day visit to Turkiye, as part of his regional tour of four nations, said the office of the Prime Minister (press wing) in a statement.
At the meeting with President Erdogan, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed his gratitude to the Government and the people of Turkiye for his unwavering support for Pakistan during the recent conflict with India, according to the statement.
Underline the strength of the fraternal bond between the two nations, Shehbaz praised the position of Turkiye principles and the effusion of the goodwill of the Turkish people for Pakistan. He described it as “a source of great comfort and strength” for Pakistan, added the statement.
He highlighted the courage and the spirit of sacrifice of the armed forces of Pakistan and the resolved patriotism of the Pakistani people that was demonstrated in an unprecedented way and contributed greatly to the overwhelming victory of Pakistan in Marka-O-Haq and the Bunyanum Marsoos operation.
The two leaders conducted an exhaustive review of the entire bilateral relations spectrum and reaffirmed their support for principles for the central concerns of others, including the Kashmir dispute. They promised to continue working closely for regional peace and the shared prosperity of their peoples.

The statement said that Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Erdogan also followed the implementation of key decisions taken during the seventh session of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) held in Islamabad on February 13, 2025.
In addition to bilateral problems, the two leaders also discussed the pressing developments of regional and international. They expressed a deep concern about the serious humanitarian situation in Gaza and asked for immediate fire and humanitarian access without obstacles to the affected Palestinian population.
