The veteran leader of the PPP and former governor of Sindh Kamal Azfar, 95, died after a prolonged disease in Karachi on Monday, confirmed Senator Waqar Mehdi.

The time and place of its funeral prayers will be announced later, added Senator Mehdi. He said that Azfar’s funeral prayers would probably be decided after the arrival of his children from abroad.

Azfar resigned from his senator when he was appointed Governor of Sindh in 1995 by former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. He was a nearby assistant of the founder of PPP, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Sindh’s prime minister Murad Ali Shah expressed his deep pain and sadness for Azfar’s disappearance and said his political services will always be remembered.

The Sindh CM transmitted its sincere condolences to the afflicted family and prayed for the high ranges of the deceased soul in the sky.
