Ragnow published on social networks that he has tried to convince himself that he feels good enough to play, but said he is not.

“I have given this team everything I have and I thought I had more to give, but the reality is that I simply do not,” said Ragnow, who was recruited 20 by the lions in 2018, in an Instagram post. “I have to listen to my body and this has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life.”

“These last months have been very attempts when I realized that my football trip is finishing and I am officially retiring from the NFL,” Ragnow continued. “The organization of the lions has been absolutely incredible throughout this process and I cannot emphasize this enough that I am for this team and all fans. It was an absolute honor to fight for all of you.”

Ragnow obtained the second team of the second team in 2020, 2023 and 2024. He was selected for his first Pro Bowl in 2020 under the then coach Matt Patricia, and then made three directly from 2022-24.
