The United Kingdom Government has announced plans to invest more than 1 billion in a new “digital guidance” pioneer to strengthen cybernetic defenses and national security.
Along with this, a new cyber and electromagnetic command will be aimed at “putting the United Kingdom at the forefront of cyber operations”, with greater orientation capabilities and digital defenses.
The investments will seek “commitments of the Battlefield of Lanza” applying lessons learned from Ukraine to the United Kingdom weapons systems, allowing faster and more precise battlefield decisions and better connected military weapons systems.
Digital capabilities
Cybersecurity and defense are a key priority for this administration, with Prime Minister Kier Starmer committing to an increase in 2.5% defense expense of GDP, “recognizing the critical importance of military preparation in an era of greater global uncertainty.”
In 2024, the United Kingdom announced the establishment of a laboratory dedicated to security research and invited its allies to collaborate to combat the “new AI arms race”, investing millions to improve cyber security capabilities.
