It is a new look in the ACC for university football as Bill Belichick becomes the new chief coach of North Carolina Tar Heels shakes things in one of the main conferences in the country.
Dabo Swinney, the former chief coach of the Clemson Tigers, described the conference as playing the “New England Patriots”, which includes the former coach of the Patriots, Bill O’Brien, as the new Boston College leader College on the sidelines.
Swinney and Belichick had a joint interview with the reception of ESPN Davis, where he admitted not to be too worried about the consummated NFL coach who joined the university ranks.

In fact, Swinney joked saying that he has a “secret sauce” to overcome tar when they see October 4 on the road.

While a UNC squad led by Belichick raises a new challenge for the ACC, Clemson has handled them well since Swinney took over in 2018. The Tigers have defeated the TAR Heels 14 times in that period, including their last confrontation in 2023, a 31-20 victory for Clemson.
Meanwhile, Belichick hopes to take the loser streak of UNC against Clemson, which is in six games. In their last 10 clashes, the Tar Heels are 1-9.
Clemson had 10-4 last season in Swinney’s 16th season as a chief coach, reaching the expanded university football playoff. They ended up losing to Texas, 38-24, in the first round to finish their season.

The Tigers returned the Cade Klubnik field marshal, who had a year of under Swinney in 2024. They also added Tom Allen de Penn State in defense on the transfer portal.
ESPN has Clemsson in 11th in its preseason survey.
