The Earth dispute near the Khanpur dam that involved a public park intensified between the owners and the municipal administration of Khanpur Tehsil (TMA), with women who joined the protesters on Thursday.
According to the protesters, the case is currently under a hearing in a superior court, and no official action on the site can be allowed. After negotiations with the administration, the situation calmed down.
The sources said the tensions intensified when the Khanpur TMA brought heavy machinery to the site to mark the land designated for the park. However, the land dispute of the land Khanpur increases, women join the protesters prevented TMA officials from doing any work. When the machinery arrived, a large number of local women also gathered on the site with men to protest.
The landowners affirmed that they have obtained an order of suspension of the Abbottabad Bank of the Superior Court of Peshawar (PHC) that prevents the TMA from proceeding. They affirmed that even if the TMA continues, it would be illegal.
In statements to the media, the municipal officer of Tehsil (TMO) of TMA Khanpur (TMO), Ayesha Tahira, declared that if the PHC has issued an order of stay or court order for the owners, they should present it. He added that the TMA has not yet received any official court order on this matter.
Later, Haripur DSP Arif Khan maintained negotiations with the TMA officials and the parties that protested and successfully persuaded both parties to agree to complete the demarcation of the land designated for the park.
He also assured that if PHC or any other court issues a suspension order, the TMA will fully comply.
Finally, an agreement was reached, avoiding what had become a very tense situation with the risk of confrontation.
Land owners argue that the district administration is acting unfairly in trying to include their ancestral lands and inhabited in the public park illegally.
