The last of the rumors about compatibility with the next version of macos is tentatively discarding a surprisingly new MAC with an Intel chip, a 2020 Macbook Pro to be necessary.
A new compatible Mac list for what is supposedly Macos Tahoe (or macos 26) comes from a private source in X that 9to5mac marked. The technology site indicates that it maintains the anonymous account, which is quite fair, but that it is a reliable source that “regularly shares precise information” in Apple software plans.
The Mac list that are ‘good to go’ with Macos Tahoe echoes the previously filtered, lending more weight to that, but adds another laptop: MacBook Pro from Apple of 13 inches of 2020, the input level model with only two Thunderbolt ports instead of four. (And there are potentially more Macbook Pro models in the cold here, by logical extension, and I will return to that point shortly).
However, the source does not sound completely convinced of what they have heard, and added that “they do not believe it” as notes from 9 to 5 Mac.
So, assuming that this is true, we have a slightly reviewed list of Mac that will be compatible with macOS 26 (apply some seasoning now):
- MacBook Air M1 or posterior
- MacBook Pro (Model 2020, 4 ports) or later
- IMAC 2020 or posterior
- Mac Mini M1 or posterior
- Mac Pro 2019 or posterior
- Mac Studio all models
If this develops, it is not difficult to imagine that the next Encarnación de Macos that lands in 2026 could only support Apple’s silicon.
ANALYSIS: Some compatibility wrinkles?
Previously, the thought was that only those with a MacBook Pro 2018 would not be treated in their hands for Macos Tahoe, but it seems that the much newer models may not have luck for support here.
Okay, that feels quite unlikely, so the source indicates its own skepticism about what they have been told. But still, there is a logic of sound at stake here, as indicated by 9 to 5 Mac. This model of two low -end ports of the Macbook Pro 2020 was equipped with an older CPU than the four -port version, an 8th Gen (Coffee Lake) chip, compared to a tenth generation processor (Ice Lake).
So that could Potentially, be a key difference in compatibility bets. With the MacBook Pro 2019 using Eighth Generation CPU, it will also be theoretically discarded, although there is an exception in the 16 -inch of the 2019 portable computer harvest that packed a ninth generation chip.
However, if Apple is going to cut access to a MacBook Pro 2020 model (with eighth generation CPU), then it may seem a bit strange to attend one of the 2019 flavors before. Okay, we could end up in a situation in which Apple warns that the 16 -inch MacBook Pro 2019 model is fine. However, it seems cleaner on the stage in which Apple discards the MacBook Pro 2020 model potentially problematic, which would also simply eliminate everything before.
This rumor could be completely barking the incorrect compatibility tree, and the previous speculation could be correct. We will discover it soon, later today, when Apple will remove the wraps of what Tahoe macOS should be on WWDC 25.
