A new coupling station for the Apple Mac Mini M4 mixture design has emerged with modern functionality.
Wokyis has presented the retro workstation for Mac Mini M4, now available for pre-pedd on the Crowdfunding Prelaunch platform.
At first glance, it is difficult not to be captivated by its silhouette similar to the helmet, clearly inspired by the original Macintosh. But as with many products that work largely due to nostalgia, questions about the usefulness and value of the real world inevitably arise.
A setback form with modern ambitions
The spring imitates the original Macintosh shape, with a matt housing and a 5 -inch LCD screen (1280 x 720) embedded where the vintage monitor would have been.
Accept the MAC Mini M4 or M4 Pro when sitting on the device, essentially transforming Apple’s compact computer into the brain of a retro -style workstation.
Metering 145 x 131 x 154.3 mm and with a weight of 750 g, it is compact, but its additional height may not attract those who point to a minimalist configuration.
Functionally, the unit aims to deliver more than just visual tribute. Wokyis promotes it as a “13 work station in 1”, which describes it as “a versatile for daily tasks, content creation and storage expansion.”
The device includes a M.2 NVME SSD slot that admits up to 8TB, along with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port that offers transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps. It also has USB-C connectivity, SD 4.0 slots and microSD (compatible with UHS-II), HDMI input and even a 3.5 mm headphone outlet.
The inclusion of the LCD screen could lift some eyebrows. While it is technically functional, its limited resolution and its lack of touch input suggest that it is more decorative than essential.
Similarly, although the unit includes ventilation, the concept of enclosing a Mac Mini, which has already integrated thermal management, within another structure could be counterproductive.
The retro workstation has a price of $ 199, or $ 99 for a slower version limited to the 10 Gbps yield.
That said, it is not clear if the performance justifies the cost, especially compared to the best USB centers, many of which offer speeds and availability of similar ports without borrowing its aesthetics since 1984.
