RS722.48B Reserved for BISP, RS10.23b for the Division of Poverty Relief

Islamabad:

The Government presented on Tuesday the budget for fiscal year 2025–26, describing allocations for social protection institutions and governance institutions.

According to official budget documents, the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) will receive RS722.48 billion, reflecting the continuous emphasis of the Government in the relief of poverty.

An additional of 10.23 billion is proposed for the poverty relief division, while RS14.20 billion have been reserved for Pakistan Baitul Mal.

The Ministry of Interior and its subordinated departments will receive RS343.89 billion, including RS21.26 billion for the territory of the capital of Islamabad (ICT) and RS274.15 billion for the combined civil armed forces. The Intelligence Office (IB) is configured to obtain RS19.12 billion, while RS1.05 billion has been allocated to NACTA.

For the Ministry of Law and Justice, RS23.42 billion have been proposed. The Supreme Court will receive RS6.64 billion and the Superior Court of Islamabad RS2.17 billion. The Pakistan Electoral Commission has been assigned to RS9.86 billion.

Parliamentary institutions are also receiving significant assignments:

• National Assembly: RS16.29 billion

• Senate: RS9.05 billion

• MNA: RS5.08 billion for salaries and advantages

• Travel expenses of parliamentarians: RS2.50 billion

• Presidents of Permanent Committees: RS1.24 billion

• Deputy President and Speaker: RS393.4 million

• Opposition leader and staff: RS83.4 million

• Salaries and advantages of senators: RS1,0638 billion

• President and Vice President Senate and their staff: RS189.6 million

• Presidents of the Senate Permanent Committees: RS1.44 billion

The Office of the Prime Minister has been assigned RS896.5 million, marking an increase of RS1,795 billion of the previous year. The Office of the Prime Minister (internal) will receive RS857.7 million, to RS1,245 billion.

The expenses of the prime minister’s office are listed at RS303.5 million, while RS2.5 billion have been reserved for the president’s chamber, including RS933.7 million for expenses of public office and RS1.75 billion for personal personnel and subsidies.

The National Responsibility Office (NAB) will receive RS7.41 billion, while the Judicial Commission of Pakistan and the Supreme Judicial Council are assigned RS5 billion and RS140 million, respectively.

It is proposed that the Division of Railroads receive RS70.45 billion, underlining the government approach to infrastructure and connectivity.
