Islamabad:
The planning minister, Ahsan IQBAL, acknowledged on Thursday that the adjusted fiscal space, promoted by structural limitations, has reduced its ability to finance development projects under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).
At a press conference, he said that the development budget has decreased from 2.6% of GDP in 2017-18 to only 0.8%, a trend described as a serious structural concern for national development.
He said that the Government aims to comply with development and other expenses through internal resources, however, to achieve this objective requires increasing the relationship imposed on Pakistan’s GDP to at least 16%, a level already maintained by regional partners.
