The Panthers took a dominant 3-0 advantage in the first period in two goals from Matthew Tkachuk and one from Anton Lundell.

Then, the game froze, with the teams playing at a dead point in the third period. That stagnation lasted more than half of the third period until the defense of the Oilers, Jake Walman, finally broke the draw with a goal with just under 7 minutes for the regulation.

And then, with less than 20 seconds for the end, the Panthers tied it with a dramatic objective of Sam Reinhart, sending the game on extra time.

None of the teams moved during the first 11 minutes of the additional period, but then Draisaitl broke for ice and even the series in the 8:42 brand.
