A rocket attack was carried out in the residence of member of the National Assembly (MNA) and special assistant of the Prime Minister, Mubarak Zeb Khan, in the District of Bajaur on Friday night, the second incident of this type in a month, which caused the prime minister Shehbaz Sharif to order an immediate investigation and arrest of those responsible.

According to Express News, the unknown assailants fired a rocket in the MNA house around 1 in the morning, which exploded near the main door. Although no victims were reported, the explosion caused partial damage at the entrance of the residence.

The district police officer (DPO) Bajaur, Waqas Rafiq, confirmed the incident and said an investigation had been launched. “Police teams have started immediate investigations,” he added.

In a publication about X (previously Twitter), Khan said: “Once again, the criminals launched a rocket attack in my house under the cover of darkness. Alhamdulillah, there was no loss of lives.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz, in a statement on Saturday, strongly condemned the attack and expressed relief that lives were not lost, Radio Pakistan reported.

He addressed the law enforcement agencies to investigate the incident without delay and make sure that the people behind the attack are taken to justice.

Separately, the MNA issued a strong message, saying that such “cowardly acts” would not dissuade him to serve the people of the region.

Khan said that the attack carried the distinctive stamps of the Tehrik-I-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) forbidden, which had also been assumed the responsibility of an previous attack against his residence on May 14.

At that time, an improvised explosive device (FDI) had been planted at the main door of the house, which was destroyed in the resulting explosion. Khan said that the calls and threatening messages of international numbers had been received in recent days.

“The participation of a forbidden outfit near the border of Pak-Faghan, potentially with the support of some local elements, cannot be ruled out,” he said.

Highlighting possible reasons behind the attacks, he said he was committed to using all the resources available for the elevation of Bajaur, and such actions aimed to sabotage continuous development efforts in the area. “They contacted us through international numbers and issued threats to stop development activities. But we are not afraid. The development of Bajaur will not stop.”

“We have faced such elements in the past and we will continue to do so. We will not go back from our mission to serve the people of this region,” he added.
