- Zinwa Q25 Relive Blackberry Classic with modern hardware and software
- The original screen and keyboard remain on this updated Android phone 2025
- The Q20 conversion kit and the complete Q25 phone are expected to be sent in August
The Chinese company Zinwa Technologies is preparing to bring back the Blackberry Classic (also known as the Q20) with the internal parts updated under the name Zinwa Q25 (because we are in 2025).
The phone will have a new hardware while maintaining many of the original iconic components, including the 720×720 touch screen, the physical keyboard, the LED notification light and the exterior housing.
This project aims to combine the nostalgic BlackBerry form factor with modern smartphone capabilities.
Internal improved
Fortunately, inside, Zinwa is replacing the original internal parts with a Medatek Helio G99, 12 GB of RAM LPDDR4X and 256 GB of UFS 2.x storage. The battery is also obtaining an update at 3,000 mAh, and the camera system includes a 50MP rear sensor and an 8MP front camera.
The Q25 will execute Android 13 outside the box, but there are no plans to update to Android 14 or posterior. That said, Zinwa plans to provide regular updates to address errors and add minor characteristics.
The company will send the Q25 with NFC, USB-C, a headphones connector, microSD card support and a single SIM slot. The modem on the new motherboard admits all 4G LTE Global Bands, making the phone compatible with most networks worldwide.
In an interview with the YouTube channel Returning retro (which can be seen below), Zinwa said the updated trackpad will work as the original, acting as a cursor and a directional pad, depending on the selected mode.
The Zinwa Q25 will be fully assembled for $ 400 or as a $ 300 conversion kit for users who already have a Blackberry Classic and prefer to adapt them them.
It is expected that both the kit and the completed device will be sent in early August 2025.
Zinwa has also confirmed that it is working in similar updates of the BlackBerry Keyone and the passport, with future models possibly called K25 and P26 respectively.
