Benazir’s income support program (BISP) will launch a payment model based on retail trade from Monday, replacing its traditional camp disbursement system to safeguard the beneficiaries of the severe heat wave in progress, state television PTV reported.

The new system aims to provide safer, more decent and accessible cash transfers, particularly for vulnerable groups in high temperature regions.

As part of the field preparations, the additional secretary of the BISP, Dr. Tahir Noor, visited the Khanewal district to review the preparation of retail points of sale and coordinate with district equipment and partner banks.

“The retail model is being introduced to provide beneficiaries with an improved experience through convenient access points, biometric verification and a more transparent process that includes printed receipts,” said Dr. Noor.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure that cash disbursements are handled with respect, efficiency and transparency. He also ordered partner banks to guarantee that all retail points of sale are completely operational, with trained personnel, biometric verification systems, constant internet connectivity and clear signage to help the recipients.

Dr. Noor instructed Bisp field staff to intensify communication efforts so that beneficiaries are well informed about the new payment process before launch.

Earlier this week, he visited fine and Bahawalpur as part of a broader supervision tour of South Punjab. There, he held meetings with Bisp officials and financial partners to strengthen coordination before the system launch. “All interested parties, including BISP staff, banks and local authorities, must focus on delivering complete payments with dignity and ease,” he said.

According to the new model, the beneficiaries are advised to visit only their retail points of sale with their original CNICs to collect the total amount of the 4 -room section of 4, together with the printed receipts.

Any problem or complaint can be informed in the local Bisp Tehsil offices or by helping the program at 0800-26477.

The measure marks an important step in the change of Bisp towards the provision of social services focused on citizens and transparent, with the aim of improving access and dignity for the most vulnerable communities of Pakistan.
