LAHORE:
The owners of hotels and guests throughout Punjab received a final warning to register their businesses, since Sunday was the last day for the mandatory registration in the ‘Hotel Eye’ software system.
The Punjab Department of Interior had launched the online portal to record all hotels, guest houses and residential service providers, establishing June 15 as the deadline for compliance.
According to a spokesman for the Department of Origin, the owners of hotels and guest houses that have not yet registered must immediately complete their record in the Porta.
“Measures against hotels and guest houses will be taken that are not registered under the Punjab information of the 2015 Temporary Residence Law,” the spokesman warned.
The initiative extends to accommodations reserved through international online reserve applications, which must also be registered in the system. “The registration has been mandatory for reservations made through online reserve applications that operate worldwide,” said the spokesman.
The decision was made to prevent terrorism, crimes and illegal activities, according to the department. “People from abroad and country stay in hotels and guest houses in Punjab,” said the spokesman.
According to the new system, the data of all people who stay in hotels and private guest houses throughout the province must enter the hotel’s eye software.
Private owners of the guest house will provide guest information through their login credentials.
“The digital verification of national and foreign residents will help in the elimination of crime,” added the spokesman.
The department emphasized that the comprehensive registration system is crucial to maintain security and monitor temporary residents in Punjab.
The owners of hotels and guests who have not completed their registration that will be recorded immediately to avoid legal actions under provincial law were urged.
