IESCO STOPS Track payment collection through Pakistan Post

Rawalpindi:

Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has decided to suspend the collection of electricity bill payments through Pakistan Post from July 1.

In a letter sent to Post Pikistan headquarters, the company declared that the measure aims to digitize the manual collection system and avoid losses in cash charges.

Posta Posta sources expressed surprise for this abrupt unilateral decision, while confirming that mail offices continue to provide services for electricity, gas, telephone and invoice collections of WASA despite facing significant financial losses.

They said that their continuation is for public convenience and to maintain the dignity of the national institution. Public confidence in mail offices, especially in rural areas, is evident from the statistics that show that during the last fiscal year, more than 42.8 million invoices of the electricity company were collected in the Post Offices, including 10 million invoices for IESco. Similar figures are also emerging for the current fiscal year.

It has been learned that although IESCO and all other electricity companies and public service providers already have available alternative facilities available, most of the public still depends on Post Pakistan.
