Rawalpindi:
After the inclusion of areas surrounding the New Islamabad International Airport within the administrative limits of the Rawalpindi district, a new airport police station has been established and an officer of the station station (SHO) has been appointed.
A temporary building for the police station on the highway link road has been rented. However, a permanent structure will be built later after acquiring land at the airport or near Airport Road.
When the New Islamabad International Airport became operational, its terminal construction, track and fun area covered three different jurisdictions: the Attock district, the Rawalpindi district and parts of the territory of the capital of Islamabad. Legally, only the new airport police station in Atock had jurisdiction over the airport area.
However, in view of security concerns and the need for unified jurisdiction, the government reassigned the total administrative control of the airport and its surrounding areas for the Rawalpindi district last year. Consequently, it was decided to establish a new airport police station specifically for the airport and adjacent areas.
It has been learned that the new police station has been formed by dividing the jurisdiction of the Naseerabad police station, particularly areas that were previously under its Hameedan police post.
