Shane Van Gisbergen collected his first victory of the Nascar Cup season as the teacher of the road course races led to the victory lane in Mexico City.
It was almost a disastrous Sunday for the native of New Zealand. When he surpassed Christopher Bell by 16,567 seconds, he opened about the feeling of “dizzy” that tormented him all day.

“I tried to treat it as when I go to Asia, I just drink bottled water and be careful in the shower and brushed my teeth with bottled water, but I just went downhill,” he said. “I couldn’t maintain anything. Everything just happened directly. I felt really dizzy and my mind was there, but my body had so much stomach pressure. Crazy weekend and everyone dug deeply.”
It seemed to be a difficult week in general, which began with a mechanical problem on the Charter flight of his team that stopped his initial trip to Mexico. He slept on his carrier’s floor before the race, not knowing if he could compete in Autromy Brothers Rodríguez.

Regardless of the disease, Van Gisbergen still managed to lead 60 of the 100 laps. The victory hopes that he can win a position in the Nascar playoffs.
“It means everything for us, that’s why I’m here,” said Van Gisbergen. “I am improving and more competitive. We are really progressing a lot.”
The next race in the calendar of the Nascar Cup is Pocono.

Van Gisbergen will enter the 30th race in the classification, but the victory in Mexico City will contribute a lot of time when 17 different pilots do not win races from now on.
