- We ask our readers about their Windows 11 plans
- Many users trust that they could easily update their devices.
- Not all users have the ability of RAM or know their RAM at all
As the end of the official life of Windows 10 of Microsoft is getting closer and more (on October 14, 2025 for those of you who do not know it yet!), Any lag must soon emigrate to Windows 11.
Well, we say that the lagging, but our exclusive statistics show more than half (53%) of Windows users are still using the oldest software, which could leave them at risk of cyber attacks and other problems when the support ends.
Our future survey of 1,027 users found that only 43% say they have performed the update, so what is causing delay?
Optimistic perspectives
Well, in a nutshell, our research found that it could be in part because many users simply do not know what they need to update.
Most people (55%) know ‘exactly in which version’ are in the one they are, but that leaves 23% that is ‘quite safe’, the 10% that ‘could make an educated assumption’, and an additional 12% that is not sure at all.
(We are also quite sure that our audience in Techradar Pro is obviously quite expert in technology, so the real percentage of those who are not safe is much higher …)
Most respondents (61%) said they have two devices or more in their home, and 53% say that all their PC/laptops meet the requirements for Windows 11 updates, which leaves 28% of respondents below the requirements of some capacity.
However, the survey found some uncertainty, with 14% without knowing the requirements of the Windows 11 system, and another 4% without knowing the requirements of its device system. This is where optimism enters.
For those who do not know, RAM’s requirement for Windows 11 is 4 GB, and just over half (53%) of those who were asked were not sure how much RAM had their device, but 40% said they were safe, although that is not the complete image.
We asked those 40% how much RAM has, and approximately 1 in 4 respondents gave us an inconceivable response, whether too high or too low.
Most were ridiculously optimistic, such as 1TB, of which even industrial configurations would be jealous, so it is really not clear how many of us we are ready or capable of updating.
While the adoption of Windows 11 can finally be increasing, there are still many users to make the change. However, Microsoft still urges users to update, since the company has pushed the functions of endless AIs in laptops and laptops worldwide to try to attract users to change.
