Microsoft has launched a new version of Microsoft 365 that is fully executed in the facilities, designed for low security and high security needs, which is executed in Local Azure.
The company detailed how the update allowed the workloads to be implemented within the sovereign cloud data centers or environments, a response to the growing desire for more controlled environments worldwide.
By launching versions in the first of M365, Redmond aims to improve security, compliance and governance, with a particular emphasis on European clients who need to comply with data sovereignty regulations.
M365 can now execute in sovereign environments
Among the key components of Redmond’s sovereign cloud are a sovereign public cloud, a sovereign private cloud and clouds of national partners.
The public version is available in all regions of European data centers and guarantees that the data remains in Europe, under European law, and is controlled only by European workers. The product is in preview, but it should generally be available at the end of this year.
Taking a step further, the private cloud uses local Azure as a basis for environments in the first and operated by the partners. It is aimed at organizations that need operational autonomy and collected air systems.
Finally, the clouds of national partners such as Bleu of France and Delos Cloud of Germany are designed to meet the local sovereignty standard within the EU.
Microsoft 365 Local is only executed in Local Azure, the foundations for the private sovereign cloud of Microsoft. “Local Microsoft 365 provides customers with additional options when gathering the Microsoft productivity server software in a local Azure environment that can be fully executed in a client’s own data center,” the company explained.
Speaking about the current “geopolitical volatility” and Microsoft’s desire to provide “digital stability”, EVP and commercial director Judson Althoff added: “Microsoft is proud to offer the widest set of sovereignty solutions available in the market today and constantly seek new ways to ensure that our European clients have the options and issues that need to operate with confidence.”
