The Baluchistan government has presented its first surplus budget for the value of RS 1,028 billion, marking a historical milestone for the province.
The budget, presented by the Minister of Provincial Finance, Mir Shuaib Noshirovani, was announced during a session of the Baluchistan Assembly chaired by President Abdul Khaliq Achakzai.
In his budget speech, Minister Noshirovani declared that the provincial government had successfully spent the entire development budget for the current fiscal year.
He highlighted the achievements in several sectors during the fiscal period, emphasizing that the government’s approach in development had yielded positive results.
The Minister of Finance also pointed out that the proposed budget includes a surplus of RS 42 billion. This marks a significant achievement since Baluchistan had never presented a budget greater than one billion rupees.
Baluchistan’s Prime Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti had announced earlier this month that the next provincial budget would prioritize the health and education sectors, without space for politically motivated development projects.
He stressed that the approach would be in sustainable development and address the genuine needs of the people of Baluchistan.
Bugti said that the draft final budget would incorporate recommendations from the parliamentary committee to guarantee inclusion and relevance. He also underlined the government’s commitment to transparency, particularly in the allocation of development funds.
“Each area and all the citizens of Baluchistan will be treated equally,” he said, ensuring that political considerations do not influence the allocation of funds.
Meanwhile, provincial government spokesman Shahid Rind then reiterated that the budget would focus on promoting economic and social progress in disadvantaged areas.
