Prime Minister Murad Ali Shah said Tuesday that water is life, and protecting natural resources is a collective responsibility.

In a message on the occasion of “World Day to combat desertification and drought”, CM Sindh also declared that June 17 is a day to raise awareness against the factors that are turning the earth into deserts, increasing drought and affecting the environment.

He said the provincial government is working on projects such as tree planting, rainwater collection and modern water management to prevent the earth from becoming desert. CM Shah warned that if the water of the Indo River does not reach the sea, our coastal belt could be eliminated.

He stressed that maintaining the natural flow of the Indo River is essential to keep the Delta of the Indo alive. The main minister said that the lowest riverside rights are recognized worldwide in the context of environmental justice.

He added that guaranteeing access to water to the Indo Delta is a demand for environmental justice to protect the land, the environment and life.
