A great fire that exploded early Wednesday in Millennium Mall in Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi was controlled after more than four hours, authorities said.
The fire began on the roof of the building and extended to the fourth and third floors, which house clothing stores, according to Fire Director Humayun Khan. He said the operation faced delays due to a shortage of water.
A total of eleven firefighters and two snorkeling were involved in fire fighting efforts. Flames were also reported on the second and first floor, although with less intensity.
Rescue officials confirmed that the roof and third floor suffered significant damage, affecting both stores and offices.
The residents of a nearby residential building were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The residential complex remained unharmed, authorities added.
The fire was completely contained after approximately four and a half hours.
