Rawalpindi:

The discontent is growing among the workers of the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP) in Rawalpindi for being marginalized during Eidul Azha celebrations, particularly with respect to selective meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari.

During a press conference, the president of Cantonment of PPP Rawalpindi, Malik Qasim Idrees, the member of the Punjab Council, Banaras Chaudhry, Tauqeer Abbasi, Nasir Mir and Abdul Rehman Tokli expressed strong concerns about what they called a conspiracy to block workers dedicated to meeting with the president. They specifically accused the presidential spokesman and former MPA Aamir Fida Paracha of creating obstacles and discouraging the grassroots members to access leadership.

The party leaders said they were deeply disappointed by the demoralization of faithful workers of the male and female parties and claimed that a deliberate conspiracy had prevented PPP allied organizations from meeting with the president. They affirmed that the former Baitada Maal MD Aamir Paracha could not communicate the true feelings and complaints of the workers of the party to leadership, which has harmed the unity of the party.

Criticism also went to the repeated nomination of weak candidates in Rawalpindi.
